The "Tulips from Amsterdam" Game

To celebrate the TV broadcast premiere of the German movie "Tulips from Amsterdam", in which my friend Johanna stars (appears), we decided to have a 'sit-in' with pizza and drinks. The movie displays Johanna's bicycling skills as she rides along a road bordering the Lisse tulip fields. Near the beginning of the movie, Johanna's covered backside and the back of her legs appear prominently for a whole 5 seconds of screentime!

While the plot of the movie is not important (it is about a couple in who want to adopt a baby but are sidetracked by a host of obstacles, including the death of the wife's mother and father, and the wife's extremely unfortunate sister, who suffers an accident, is omitted from the legacy and is unlucky in love), the movie is set against the backdrop of springtime Netherlands and Germany and features the world's biggest tulip auction in Rotterdam (reminiscent of Tokyo's fish auction); and we made a game out of the movie.

Rules of the Game
  • Every time one of the three main character's names was spoken, then the corresponding player was penalised by one standard unit; thus, I had Ed, Johanna had Lily while Barbara had Anna.
  • Every time the word "tulp" (English: "tulip") was spoken, all were penalised by one standard unit.
  • If I could correctly guess/translate a full German sentence to English, then Johanna and Barbara were each penalised by one standard unit. If I was wrong in my attempt, then I would be penalised one standard unit.
  • When it started to appear that "Ed" was not mentioned as many times as "Lily" and "Anna", it was decided that the player assigned to "Ed" was penalised by one unit when tulips appeared in the scene.
  • When a flower pot appeared in the scene, all were penalised by one unit.
  • Winner of the game: everyone's a winner!
