Anh Tu and Chi My took me to Schloßer Benrath. A rococo maison de plaisance, just like Voltaire's Candide I start my bildungsroman life-changing journey in the gardens of an extravagant Westphalian mansion.
Dylan and Ellen, their kids, repeatedly got way too close to the frozen lake.
The garden was in the dead of winter but pleasant.
Chi My taught me "Döner macht schöner", meaning a doner kebab will make you handsome. Then the kids chimed in and it got annoying.
Then we had lunch at Pegasos, a Greek restaurant in D-dorf's banking district. I had their special of grilled meats and finished the dollop of tzatziki to ward off my incipient cold.
In the afternoon, went on a walk with Co Chau to Arcaden shopping centre, and the library, and a political bookshop.
