Den Haag and The Girl with the Pearl Earring

Aimee's collage installed on my new headboard.

Variations On The Kanon installed on my new piano.

Can anyone identify this cheese that was found in my fridge?

Today took the train to The Hague to see The Girl with the Pearl Earring with a Dutch student mentor. The train ride took a mere 10 minutes and then we were in a larger version of Leiden.

The stately, but conservative, and modestly-sized Mauritshuis museum was cramped up next to Netherlands' Parliament House. Inside, paintings by Dutch artists, especially from the 17th century, were cramped together from room to room. The walls were interestingly carpeted, guilded and covered in unusual but aesthetic colours. The second floor currently had a horse-themed exhibition by a Dutch painter. The Girl with the Pearl Earring was inconspicuously placed along with other paintings by Vermeer.

After the museum, walked through the Parliament complex beside it to the other side where I found one of the ubiquitous Herring stands in red, white and blue.

I tried a raw herring with onion for the first time and it was smakelijk!
